Andrew Thompson

Assistant General Manager

A native New Englander, Andrew Thompson found himself back the Boston area after dotting a few other corners of the country including Florida, Arizona, and Hawaii. An early taste for the flexibility, dynamic atmosphere, and apparent opportunity of restaurants; Thompson has been hooked on the industry since his early 20’s. 

Andrew started his career in restaurants quite by accident. He began by dishwashing and considers himself lucky to have encountered interesting and challenging restaurant environments early on, which even as a dishwasher inspired him to realize that the restaurant industry could be a place of ongoing learning, personal growth, and professional opportunity.

Dishwashing led to food running, to line cooking, and eventually Thompson was seduced into the dining room by the unlimited potential of wine. Thompson is a member of the Boston Sommelier Society and the Court of Master Sommeliers. 

Honing his craft in service and wine early and in style at Boston landmark Clio, Thompson found himself polishing both and developing his planning and mentorship skills at the longstanding pinnacle of hospitality, Bergamot in Somerville, where he worked as Assistant General Manager and Wine Director. 

Making his way to Peregrine after an admiration for the company’s flagship restaurant, Juliet, Thompson was an opening member of the team for the new restaurant, taking an active role in the shaping of the strong programs, and systems of hospitality, wine service, and professional development to come. 

Priding himself on seeing the potential of everyone, and every new day in the restaurant, Thompson cultivates a team oriented atmosphere that equally serves the guests and the staff, making possible unparalleled experiences for all. He additionally values a broader atmosphere of collaboration and support within the community and the local restaurant industry. 

When not engaged in growing his programs in the dining room, and support within the community, Thompson may be found iterating his other process based pursuits of chess and gardening...activities that, like his work, offer constant potential for practice and improvement.
