Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Why can’t I see Peregrine from Charles Street?
Look closer! We are located inside The Whitney Hotel.
Where do I park?
Metered parking is regularly available on both sides of Charles Street, as well as the surrounding areas of Beacon Street and Cambridge Street. There are two garages within walking distance, Boston Common Garage and Charles Street Garage. We are able to validate parking for Charles Street Garage only.
Is Peregrine close to public transportation?
Yes! We are located directly across the street from the Charles/MGH Red Line T stop.
I noticed a 7% kitchen fee, what’s that about?
Massachusetts is one of only two states in the country where restaurants are not allowed to share tips with back-of-house staff. Massachusetts also allows tipped staff to be paid a lower hourly rate of $9 versus the full minimum wage of $15. Peregrine has a minimum wage of $16 for all staff, including service staff. If we had it our way, we would share your tips with everyone working, including our cooks. Because we can’t, we take that 7% fee and give it directly to them.
So, how much should I tip?
Some guests adjust their standard 20% tip to factor in the 7% to the kitchen. Some don’t. You should feel comfortable with either choice.
I heard the hotel is pet friendly, so can I bring my dog (cat, bird, etc.) with me to the restaurant?
Unfortunately, no. Although the hotel property is indeed dog-friendly, city regulations do not allow non-service animals in any licensed food service establishments. This includes the outdoor patio located on Charles Street in front of the hotel. Dogs are allowed in the courtyard behind the restaurant, where food can also be served, but this area is shared with hotel guests and available only on a first come first serve basis.
